Shimron Hetymer, the attacking middle-order batsman will lead Guyana Amazon Warriors as skipper in CPL 2022. In the July draft, Trinbago Knight Riders signed the former GAW skipper Nicholas Pooran.
Now, Hetymer is all set to take over the reins of the team he has been a part of since 2016. It was only after 2018 that the left-handed batsman became a regular feature in the Warriors’ playing XI.
As a middle-order batsmen, Hettie, as he is popularly known among his peers, has some impressive figures. He has scored 8 fifties and one hundred, scoring a total of 1149 runs at a strike rate of 131.76 from 47 games.
An interesting fact about this appointment is that Shimron Hetmyer is the first Guyanese captain of the franchise since 2013.

There seems to have been an upheaval when it comes to the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad. While the former skipper leaving the side to join Trinbago Knight Riders is a major change, it is not the only one.
Paul Stirling, Colin Ingram, and Heinrich Klaasen bring in huge experience and will have a great impact on Guyana’s overall batting.
